Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the Eco-Rx Technology do?

The Eco-Rx technology is a patented technology, which kills over 99% of airborne bacteria as they pass through the unit on a first pass basis. The Rx 400 is unlike other products on the market.

What makes Eco-Rx Products better than competitive products?

Eco-Rx products are designed to kill airborne bacteria and reduce other irritants, which affect a person's health. Most competitive products are designed to filter the air not kill pathogens. These filters become a breeding ground for more pathogens.

How do the Products work?

Air is drawn in through the base of the unit. Inside the cartridge, the baffles provide the turbulence necessary to bring the pathogens in close proximity to the special UVC lamps, allowing the germicidal UVC to kill any pathogens present. Before exiting from the top of the unit, the air stream passes through a gross particulate screen, which removes the neutralized dust and debris.

What does the Technology Kill?

More than 99% of airborne bacteria are killed when they first pass through the cylinder.

Are Test Results available?

Eco-Rx has an ongoing program of product testing. A number of independent, third party EPA and FDA certified laboratories are involved in product testing. The latest results of these tests are available upon request.

What does the FDA listing as a Medical Device mean?

By granting a listing, the FDA indicates it has reviewed all aspects of a product and technology including: efficacy of the technology, independent test results and product safety to insure that the product complies with Company claims Few air purification products are listed by the FDA.

How do I use the Product?

The best and most effective way to use the product is to leave it running all of the time. This is particularly true when a unit is used in a bedroom. Fan speed can be varied to suit the needs of the user.

Is this Technology safe for people and animals?

Eco-Rx products are completely harmless to people and animals because the Technology kills rather than collecting pathogens. No ozone is used in the killing process. The spent cartridge can be easily removed and simply thrown away.

Is the Product safe to use?

The Rx 400 has been tested and certified by ETL (Intertek Testing Services) of Cortland, New York as electrically and operationally safe to use.

How much energy does this Product use?

The Model Rx 400 uses less energy than a 100 watt light bulb when operating at full speed.

How often does the Cartridge need to be replaced?

The cartridge is designed to operate for over 8,700 hours. That is the same as running the product 24 hours a day for one year.

How do I know when it is time to change the Cartridge?

The Eco-Rx cartridge is designed to operate for over 8,700 hours (one year). When the cartridge is within 30 days of replacement, the indicator light on the front of the machine changes from green to orange. At the end of its life, the unit shuts off and the indicator light changes to red. The unit will not operate until a new cartridge is installed. Replacement Cartridges are available directly from the Company.

How often does the Particulate Screen need to be changed?

The gross particulate screen traps dirt, dust and debris. Depending on the environment, it should be changed every three or four months. In a very dusty environment, it should be changed more frequently. Three screens are included with the unit when purchased. Additional screens are packed with each replacement cartridge. As more are required, they can be purchased separately from Eco-Rx.

Where do I place the Product in a room for maximum efficiency?

Due to the effectiveness of Eco-Rx technology, the unit may be placed anywhere in a room. A possible position is in a corner, where it is out of the way of traffic and can be treated as part of the furniture.

Is the Product easy and safe to operate?

Just plug the unit in, turn it on and it goes to work immediately. The electronic controls, which are an integral part of the Technology, constantly monitor operating performance. If a major component fails to function properly, the control unit will shut down the machine.

How will I know what is wrong if the Machine shuts down?

There is an indicator light on the front of the machine. When the machine is operating properly, the light is green. When the cartridge is within one month of expiration, the indicator light changes to orange. When the cartridge has expired, the light turns red. If other components are not operating properly, the indicator light blinks in a sequence, which indicates which component is inoperative.

How do I Clean the unit?

The exterior of the unit can simply be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

Are Eco-Rx Products protected by a Warranty?

All Eco-Rx Products are protected by a one year limited warranty. A copy of this warranty is included with each product.
